Remote PTZ Camera Controller

Camera Controller

As expected, a new remote camera controller was released at the same time that Panasonic’s brand new remote PTZ camera was introduced. This controller has even more options than its predecessors. What exactly is a remote PTZ camera controller meant to do? This one was developed in order to make it easier to control PTZ cameras. It allows you not only to control the head of the camera, including its motions from left, right, up and down, but also to adjust the zoom, focus and iris.  You can basically use this control panel to adjust all of the settings you would normally have to adjust manually on a traditional camera. Simple, right? This makes it possible for a single technician to control several cameras at once, which is a great way for most productions to save some money.

Functions

The most obvious thing about this new controller is the gigantic touch screen on the top. This makes it much easier to use than its predecessors. All settings are clearly visible on a large and clear display. What’s more, this remote camera comes with a completely new joystick which is larger and sits better in the hand. The joystick also has a rocker on the back which can be used for zoom or focus, depending on what you want. This makes it possible for one technician to control multiple cameras pretty much single-handedly. Panasonic has drawn on past experience to make some other functions directly accessible. There are now direct buttons for the speed of the zoom, focus and pan/tilt. The settings for perfecting white balance and colour are also directly accessible without having to go through all kinds of menus.
