Most events in today’s world are quite international in character. As a result, English is increasingly favoured as the working language of presentations and conventions. This is generally not a problem for Dutch audiences, who usually have a good to very good grasp of the English language. This is not always the case for visitors from other countries. They may have little to no knowledge of the English language, which will make it difficult to follow the presentation. This can be solved by translating the presentation. It may also be the case that the guest speaker is much more comfortable giving their presentation in their mother tongue. This is a problem for presentations with international guests. Once again, interpreters can be of great use.

Translation tech

Sennheiser has developed technology which is perfectly suited for interpreting. Partly thanks to their knowledge of wireless microphones and in-ear monitoring, they have further developed this technology for use by interpreters. Sennheiser has been a brand favoured by business events and presentations for quite some time. The tech included in this set works in conjunction with other essential business event technology. Without this essential technology, this set won’t work. What does all this really mean? At a business event, a microphone and mixing desk are required to give a performance. This allows visitors to follow the presentation live in the working language of the event. The technology required for interpreting merely builds on these basic essentials.

Interpreters

The interpreter will receive the audio of the presentation via their panel.  Using this panel, the interpreter can adjust numerous settings, including the volume of the speaker, the volume of the microphone and the timbre. Once the microphone picks up the interpreter's translation, it is transmitted to the wireless receiver, allowing the audience members to hear it through their headphones. This set contains one interpreter’s panel and is therefore suitable for interpreting from one language to another. If the working language needs to be translated into multiple other languages, you will need more panels. In the event that you do need multiple translations, you will obviously need multiple translators. It then becomes essential that the translators do not disturb each other. What can be done to prevent this varies from location to location, so we don’t have a standard solution. If there are several rooms available, it may be possible to have each translator in a separate room. Are there no free rooms, or do your interpreters actually need to be in the room in which the presentation is being given? Consider using interpreting booths. Please note that these are not included in this set.

Operating

An interpreter is essential for getting the presentation’s message across clearly to any audience members who are not proficient in the working language. In order to save valuable time, the interpreter has numerous settings on the interpretation panel at his disposal. These settings can largely be adjusted prior to the event in consultation with the technician. This allows the interpreter to do his work worry-free during the presentation itself. It is also possible to adjust settings while interpreting. This can include adjusting the incoming volume of the speaker on stage or the outgoing volume of the microphone. This set comes with a gooseneck microphone for the interpreter. These are ideal for amplifying speech. The interpreter may prefer a different type of microphone. No need to worry- it’s technically possible to connect any type of microphone to the interpreter panel. The visitors who make use of the interpreter will also have a number of settings at their disposal. A knob can be found on the wireless receivers, with which each guest can determine the volume of their headphones. This allows each guest to listen to the presentation at their own preferred volume, without disturbing those around them.
