Very powerful subwoofer which is ideal for various uses. Because of the large 18″ driver this QSC KLA181 active subwoofer produces a very strong low sound. Of course these subwoofers can be placed on the ground in the 'normal' way and even stacked. The subwoofers fit exactly into each other, creating a stable stack. However, it is also possible to hang up these subwoofers. If you wish to do this, you must make use of a special rigging frame for these speakers which is strong enough for hanging them. We will discuss this more later.

Connections

The QSC KLA181 is an active subwoofer. This means that the subwoofer has a built-in amplifier. This eliminates the need for a separate amplifier, but each subwoofer needs to be powered, otherwise the amplifier will not function. For easy and safe wiring, this speaker has a power input and output based on PowerCON connectors. The audio input is based on the widely used 3-pronged  XLR standard. This subwoofer has an input and loop-through for the audio signal.

Flying bracket

Other than using it in an array, you can also use this speaker as a 'normal' subwoofer. It’s not always necessary to hang the subwoofers together. Placement on the ground is also just fine and even more efficient than hanging them up. If you decide that the subwoofers need to be suspended after all, you must make use of the specially developed QSC KLA AF12 array frame. This has been specifically designed and tested for safe suspension of speakers. However, it is important to pay close attention to the load capacity of the rigging frame. The top speakers may be hung under subwoofers. This has an effect on the load of the rigging frame. The following configurations represent the maximum load that may be attached (less is of course always allowed): - 5x KLA12 Line Array - 2x KLA181 Subwoofer + 5x KLA12 Line Array - 3x KLA181 Subwoofer + - 4x KLA181 Subwoofer
