What does a stage clamp do? 

To connect stage decks to one another a deck to deck clamp is essential. This stage clamp makes sure the stage decks stay attached to each other. This way you will keep the stage free of gaps between the decks. Next to that, the clamp helps to equalise the stage decks to each other. When all decks are correctly clamped together there won't be any differences in height between the individual decks.

How many clamps will you need? 

For an extreme safe situation, all stage decks can be connected together with deck to deck clamps. This way you create a solid construction, also when the venue has an uneven floor. Is the floor completely smooth? For example at a newly constructed conference hall? In that case it will suffice to only connect all outer decks with each other. The outer ring of decks will then all be connected, not giving any space to the inner decks to shift in any direction.
