HDMI 10 metres

For a layman, connecting video equipment was always a big challenge. There used to be so many different connections and protocols that you always had to check which connection was needed. Nowadays, fortunately, this is much more standardized and you can almost blindly assume that HDMI is what you’ll need. However, there are also differences when using HDMI. This isn’t visible on the plug or cable- it’s an internal difference. It has to do with the amount of data that the cable can send from A to B.

HDMI Properties

Many companies use HDMI 1.4 cables. These cables are actually only suitable for transporting HD signals with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and a refresh rate of 60Hz. With higher quality cables you can send 4K resolutions, but only with a refresh rate of 30Hz. It’s not ideal, and the quality is a bit choppy. We use HDMI 2.0 cables. These cables can send a larger amount of data and thus handle higher resolutions. Our cables can relay full 4K resolution. This is convenient because our TV screens and video mixers can also handle these resolutions. This cable supports content with a resolution of 4096 x 2160 with an image refresh rate of 60Hz without any issues.

Use

HDMI cables are more vulnerable than other types of cabling. These cables have many more cores than usual- 19 to be precise. In order to be able to send data qualitatively from A to B, all these cores need to be intact. Be careful of doors during installation. It’s easy for a cable to get trapped in a door, and it can have huge consequences. Always tape the cable securely so that it won’t be damaged during use.
